Mountain Splendour Eco-Resort is a 4 Star graded camping and caravan eco-resort ideally located in the Champagne Valley. The resort is situated on a farm facing the peaks of Champagne Castle, Cathkin Peak and Sterkhorn. These mountains are located in the Monk’s Cowl Reserve, is part of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg National Park. The resort offers grass and gravel sites suitable for camping, caravanning, and camper vans. The sites are large and shady and each site has electricity, a braai and a dustbin. Mountain Splendour is the perfect venue for weddings and other family functions. The majestic mountains make a spectacular backdrop for your event that will ensure everyone is talking about your special occasion for months afterwards.
There is a large children’s playground on the resort; and an animal farm where kids can enjoy interacting with a variety of farm animals. Large open spaces, tennis courts and mountain biking trails give kids real freedom to explore.

Important Information
Updated policy for deposits during the COVID-19 period.
For Mountain Splendour to operate our business effectively during the Covid-19 National State of Disaster period, we need deposits to confirm stays and deposits will be subject to the following conditions:
1. Bookings are not confirmed until deposits are paid in full.
2. All deposits are non-refundable and are due within 48 hours of booking.
3. Should Mountain Splendour be unable to provide accommodate due to Covid-19 health issues or government regulations, your deposit will be put on hold for a period of 12 months. Mountain Splendour endeavours to advise you of any changes to hospitality sector regulations as timeously as possible.
4. Should guests be required to self-isolate or are unable to travel directly as a result of Covid-19 health issues, the deposit will be held for a period of 12 months PROVIDED that you notify Mountain Splendour at least 7 days prior to your arrival date that your booking is affected by Covid-19 health issues. Failing this, your deposit will be forfeited.
5. Should the government alter travel restrictions so that you are unable to have your planned stay, your deposits will be put on hold for a period of 12 months, PROVIDED that you notify Mountain Splendour that your booking is affected within 24 hours of the announcement being made.
6. Deposits not used within 12 months can be rolled over for another 6 months but will be subject to an administration charge of a minimum of R250.00 or 10% of the value of your booking.
7. No-shows, or bookings cancelled within 7 days of arrival date, will forfeit the deposit amount.
8. It is the guests’ responsibility to re-book stays timeously. Please note that deposits will not be refunded if your preferred choice of accommodation is not available when you re-book. Mountain Splendour cannot guarantee that the same unit will be available for re-booked stays.
Tariffs are payable on arrival or the following morning, at the latest, for arrivals after office hours.
No refunds under any circumstances for late arrivals or early departures.
Deposits are due within 7 days of booking or at least 24 hours prior to arrival for late bookings.
Deposits are non-refundable. Exceptions are made for extenuating circumstances at management’s discretion, in which case a cancellation/handling fee will be charged.
R200.00 cash breakage/key deposit required for self-catering units.

The name we have against the reservation is in is responsible for the account. For group reservations where individual families are responsible for their own accounts the reservations office must be provided with the name, contact number and e-mail address of the various individuals responsible for payments.
All peak holiday periods and long weekends are governed by a policy whereby management implements a minimum number of nights required for bookings. If you are unsure whether your stay falls into one of these periods, please ask us for clarity.
Stored caravans and safari tents are charged for a minimum stay of 2 nights. Rates are quoted per 24 hour period. Unauthorised early arrivals or late departures will be charged for an extra night. Please consult with management should you want to arrive early or depart late.
Site Allocations: Group bookings over peak holiday periods will be required to share sites. With a maximum of 8 guests per site. While every attempt is made to allocate sites as per guest’s preferences, we reserve the right to reallocate sites in order to accommodate reservations with conflicting dates or groups. Site numbers (with the exception of private ablution sites) given by the reservations office are not guaranteed. Out of courtesy we endeavour to contact guests with definite site preferences prior to reallocating sites.
Arrival and Departure Times: For camping/caravan sites arrival time is 1.30 p.m. and departure time is 11 a.m. For self-catering units arrival time is 2 p.m. and departure time is 10 a.m. Early arrival or late departure times may be allowed by prior arrangement only. Strictly no early arrivals or late departures over Easter, throughout December or the first week in January.
General Resort Rules: Children under 10 years must be accompanied by an adult in the ablutions. Please leave the ablutions as you would like to find them. Maximum of 8 persons per caravan/camping site. Maximum of 6 persons per self- catering unit. Minimum stay of 2 nights required for all sites during mid, mid-high and high season periods. No loud noise, music or other disturbances will be tolerated at any time of the day. Any noise heard beyond your site or self-catering unit is considered a disturbance. Absolute silence after 10:00pm. No music to be played from vehicles at any time. Only music organised by management is allowed in public areas. No fires allowed on the ground or in open spaces. NO PETS ALLOWED (Fine: R200 per day per pet). No fireworks or firecrackers to be let off on our property (this includes the farm fields and the lands adjacent to the river). All Flora and Fauna is protected by law. Open-mesh groundsheets permitted on all sites. All other types of groundsheets (e.g. plastic, shade cloth, closed weave) permitted on gravel sites only. No off-road motorbikes, quad bikes or other motorised recreational modes of transport to be ridden on the property. No washing of vehicles, bicycles or caravans with hosepipes is allowed. We strongly recommend that mountain bikers (of all ages) wear helmets at all time when riding on our various tracks. Guided rides and races have a strict “no helmet - no ride” policy. No bikes, rollerblades or skateboards allowed on the tennis courts. Right of admission reserved. Indemnity forms must be read and signed by all guests.
Deposits: Deposits are required for all bookings and are due within 7 days of booking or at least 24 hours prior to arrival for bookings made within a week of a stay. Your deposit ensures that you have a site available for your stay and that wherever possible you are given the site of your choice. Reservations are not confirmed until your deposit is paid. Should you be unable to pay the deposit by the due date indicated in your provisional reservation, please contact the office to arrange alternative payment arrangements. Deposits are essentially non-refundable. Our cancellation policy below outlines under what circumstances deposits may be refunded. All refunds will be subject to an administrative charge and are refunded via EFT into a bank account. For group reservations, deposits are made for each reservation within the group. Deposits from one reservation cannot be transferred to another reservation within the group for no-shows. Stored caravan owners may have deposits (less the administrative charge) transferred to cover caravan storage levies.
